Heritage Homes Employee a Finalist in National Competition; Public Online Voting to Help Choose Winner

Marketing July 25, 2014

Deb Vaillancourt, a caregiver at Heritage Homes, a Watertown senior living community, has been nominated as a finalist in caring.com’s Caring Champions 2014 competition.  Caring Champions is an award that recognizes professional caregivers of seniors in the U.S.

“From working with individuals with dementia, Vaillancourt has developed skills that help her anticipate a person’s need before the escalation of difficult behaviors,” says Jan Zimmerman, Heritage Homes Administrator.  “She listens to their feelings and brings them joy.”

Vaillancourt has a heart larger than life. Her care is made very evident by how she treats each and every resident as individuals and isn’t afraid to be silly and joke with them when it is appropriate.

“Deb has one goal and that is whatever is best for the resident is the right way to go,” says Dennis Metcalf, a volunteer at Heritage Homes. “Whenever a resident asks for help she is ready to assist right away.  I have learned from her to be stronger in my faith because of her strength and devotion to her own faith and through her work ethic.”

Caring Champion winners will be announced soon after voting ends on July 31, 2014.  Winners are selected by subjective criteria, a panel of judges and your social votes.

To vote for Vaillancourt, go to caring.com, and search for Heritage Homes Assisted Living.
