Heritage Homes notes National Assisted Living Week

Marketing September 8, 2014

WATERTOWN, WISC. September 8, 2014 – Heritage Homes appreciates the special opportunities offered by National Assisted Living Week® which will be observed September 7-13. This annual celebration is sponsored by the National Center for Assisted Living in Washington, D.C. and assisted living providers nationwide. This week recognizes the contributions made to people’s lives by assisted living caregivers and providers. It also brings together residents, families, employees, volunteers and the surrounding community to celebrate this year’s theme “The Magic of Music”.

“The Magic of Music” was chosen because music brings pleasure to all generations and fills our heart with love, comfort and joy.  A foundation in nearly all aspects and activities of life, music provides a magical journey through lyrics and song.

“This year’s theme shaped our choice to give residents a variety of exciting events and activities that show them how much we care about them,” says Jan Zimmerman, Administrator and Director of Nursing at Heritage Homes Assisted Living.  “For those with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia, music can also trigger memories or provide a soothing effect.”

Special events for residents and families this week at Heritage Homes include a Grandparent’s Tea, live music by Vicki Belleville, “Sweat’n to the Oldies” exercise class, a Sock Hop featuring 50’s and 60’s music, a chocolate fountain experience with musical entertainment from the 30’s and 40’s and a “Sing to Jesus” hymn sing.

Heritage Homes offers independent living, assisted living and memory care and is located at 700 Welsh Road in Watertown. Heritage Homes is owned and operated by The Lutheran Home Association which has been based in Belle Plaine, Minnesota, since 1898.
