We offer Christ-centered homes, services and programs, serving people’s unique needs. We provide quality health care, housing and support services in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Our Jesus Cares Ministries assists congregations in reaching out with the Gospel to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families and communities.

	TLHA partners with Mayo Clinic Health Systems and University of Minnesota to explore electronic medical record exchange The three organizations have been awarded a grant to develop a pilot project that will help improve the seamless transition of patient information which can lead to improved quality of care and reduced costs. A survey conducted earlier this year found that 71% of physicians thought the lack of inter operating communication among electronic health records, along with a lack of infrastructure for exchanging information, was the highest challenge to achieving desired improvement in digital health care. 	Malawi Mission Grows This past fall, two of our Jesus Cares Ministries leaders visited Malawi with a team from WELS Kingdom Workers. We were invited to help evaluate how JCM materials could be used to serve the people of Malawi. It was evident the need and desire to hear the Word of God was overwhelming. This summer, another team will go back. Their goal is to pave the way and provide the template for further volunteers to help spread the Word and train the Malawians in creating a self-supporting program. 	AskJackie.org – A new blog for families of children with special needs Meet Jackie Mayer once and you will believe in her vision and passion. Jackie is our Community Relations Director for Jesus Cares Ministries in the Manitowoc, Wisconsin area. She also has a son with Fragile X Syndrome, a genetic disorder in the X chromosome which is a leading cause of mental retardation in boys. Informed of this diagnosis over the phone by her doctor, Jackie immediately turned to the web for answers. In fact, her doctor told her he didn’t know much about it and told her to look it up on the web. So she did. Our hope is to share Jackie’s story and the Lord’s message with other families in the same situation. 	The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine ranked among the best in Minnesota The “Best Nursing Homes: The 2012 U. S. News Honor Roll” has been published by U.S. News and World Report. To determine those named to their list, the authors reviewed data from 15,500 nursing homes across the country and determined the best in each state. The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine has been named one of best nursing homes in the state of Minnesota. Read more
