God’s unending love and countless blessings

A few months ago, Kingsway Retirement Living received donated quilts from the Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society (LWMS) in northwest Wisconsin.
With each quilt was a handwritten card reading, “Please accept this lap quilt from your sisters in Christ as they were made with Christian love and care. May they be reminders of God’s unending love and countless blessings.”
Joel Ulland, Kingsway’s Housing Manager, shared the quilts with residents. He gifted one to Pat K. Her life changed drastically during COVID-19. She always wore a mask and followed the guidelines. Her social life declined, as residents were encouraged not to gather in large groups per the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC.)
Like Pat, many Kingsway residents were used to being around others and enjoying large group activities with their neighbors. When Joel presented the quilt to Pat, the look on her face was full of amazement and joy. The joy was visible through her mask!
“It’s so nice to be noticed and cared for. I remember walking with my husband at the community center years ago and we’d admire the quilts on display for purchase,” said Pat. “We never returned to buy one. I pray my husband, who is home in heaven, sees that I received this quilt.”
Tiny squares are stitched on the quilts with four encouraging words throughout: love, grace, joy, and hope.
“I’m thankful for a career to share God’s blessings personally,” said Joel.
