Local franchise owner of Junk King donates time and manpower to TLHA

Ed Fogarty has many connections to The Lutheran Home Association (TLHA.) He is from Belle Plaine. His mother, Kathleen, was a resident of The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine. His wife and sisters have worked within the care community.

Today, Ed owns Junk King, a junk removal service in the Minneapolis area. He and his company recently donated their time and services to TLHA for a project requiring many man hours.

“We are grateful for Junk King’s help” said Karl Keup, senior project manager and director of risk management. “This project required additional staff resources. With their help, this project moved up on our priority list, allowing us to keep our team members focused on caregiving and ministry.”

TLHA reached out to Junk King for a quote for the required work. Recognizing that the high cost could be a deterrent for a nonprofit ministry, Ed offered to donate four men for a day at no charge.

“Managing a business is hard, and I’m sure operating a nonprofit ministry is even more challenging, especially during COVID,” said Ed, owner of Junk King. “The winter months tend to be slower for us, so this was the perfect opportunity to keep our staff busy and to do something impactful for such an important organization. I am happy to be able to give back to the community I grew up in.”

TLHA care communities and programs rely on donors and volunteers to support the ministry’s operations, chaplaincy, Jesus Cares Ministries programming, and general administration. Each gift of time, a talent, or a treasure helps us to continue to share Christ’s love by meeting the spiritual, physical, intellectual, and emotional needs of people entrusted to the ministry.
