Jesus is the vine of salvation
I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5)
Almost everyone is “connected” today by various means. From cell phones to computers, laptops, tablets, and iPads, most have wireless capability. Some may even have a landline.
To perform well, a computer, a laptop, a smart phone must be connected to a reliable power source. The machine must be plugged in to power, or the battery must be fully charged.
In Jesus, we have a special connection, and we need that special connection. We make mistakes and experience problem after problem. You might start to think that you have broken the connection due to your sinful behavior. You may feel unworthy or disconnected from the Lord.

Jesus, our Savior, is our special power source along with the Holy Spirit. By the power of God’s Word, the Spirit gives us the gift of faith to always trust and believe in what Jesus has done for us. No matter what we have done, he wants to maintain that connection with us. Jesus says to us and all believers, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
Because we the branches on Jesus’s vine, we will bear fruit to the glory of God. In Jesus, we know that we have the forgiveness of our sins, the desire to live godly lives, and the promise of eternal life together with Jesus. This is the best and the greatest connection.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for the special connection we have with you, our loving Savior. We confess that we have often tried to break that connection with you through our sinful thoughts, words, and actions. However, we know we have forgiveness for our “disconnected” behavior. We are so thankful that we can come to you with prayers and petitions and you will hear and answer. Thank you for keeping us connected to you by the power of the Spirit. In your name we pray. Amen.
