Kingsway Retirement Living awarded employee training and education grant
Kingsway Retirement Living, a ministry of The Lutheran Home Association, has been awarded a $18,586 grant from the 2021 Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Employee Scholarship program administered through the Office of Rural Health and Primary Care (ORHPC) at the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH).
This award is intended to support the costs of employee training and education, with the aim of advancing careers in the HCBS field.
“This grant allows us to encourage our team members to gain professional development and advancement, while supporting the current training available.” said Sandra Hyatt, Human Resources and Development Director at Kingsway.
The grant will allow Kingsway to provide First Aid Training in the nursing department, and tuition and testing fees for Certified Nursing Assistants, Trained Medication Aides, and an Certified Activity Director.
“Having the ability to help cover the costs for training and certifications is a benefit for Kingsway and our team members,” said Joel Ulland, Kingsway Housing Manager. “We are excited to roll this benefit out and continue to invest in our greatest asset—our people.”
The scholarship period runs from July 2021 to June 2023. Investing in the education and training of health care professionals working in the field honors the commitment caregivers make every day to ensure quality patient care and promote the health and safety of seniors who call Kingsway home.
