It is all about Jesus!
Indeed, we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’s sake. (2 Corinthians 4:5)
It is not difficult to figure out how to gain notoriety at work. You serve those who are higher ranking than you. Once you get their attention with your good work ethic and determination to serve well, you will most likely be promoted. This, of course, is not guaranteed to work every time, but you have a better shot to work up the corporate ladder if you serve well than if do the bare minimum. However, it makes no sense to work hard and to show that you serve well only to give the credit to your boss. Why would anyone pour their heart and soul into serving and not look for credit?

What do you expect when you serve the Lord? Do you expect to gain notoriety among the saints? Do you hope to get to the level of the Apostles or the Patriarchs? Or maybe ascend to the ranks of angels? These things are not on our mind or hearts. Our only focus is telling others about Jesus Christ and promoting him as Lord! We serve others only to point them to Jesus.
It is imperative for us to continue to tell others about Jesus. It is a matter of life and death. We serve others so that we can have opportunities to shine the spotlight on their Savior. The devil has blinded their spiritual sight. By shining the light on Jesus as Lord, it will break through that spiritual darkness. We shine the light of Christ by serving them and gaining opportunities to proclaim the free and full forgiveness that Christ won for all of us. Let us show them Christ, and the gospel will reveal Jesus and only Jesus!
How can we not want to serve others for the sake of the one who saves? In the end, it is all about Jesus!
Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, send us your Spirit to help us to promote Jesus as Lord. Give us opportunities to serve other so that we can point them to Jesus as their Savior! In his name we pray. Amen.
