Volunteers Share Time And Talents

Wellhaven Senior Living March 31, 2022

We are grateful for all our volunteers at Wellhaven Senior Living.

“We are happy to welcome back volunteers, and a few new ones, too,” explained Laura Swanson, Activities and Marketing Coordinator. “Our tenants greatly benefit from relationships formed with individuals who frequently volunteer.”

Recently, Shelly assisted during a craft activity where tenants were making pinecone bird feeders. This was a great way to provide a snack for the birds and the squirrels during the cold weather. Completed feeders were placed outside our tenant’s windows. Tenants love watching the feeders provide a close-up view of local birds and animals.

Volunteer Elizabeth recently led our tenants in their exercise class. Following the class, Elizabeth shared her thoughts about volunteering:

“I’ve volunteered all my life and never felt so appreciated and welcomed. It’s a privilege getting to know all the residents over these past years. A treasure of historic stories. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of Wellhaven.”

There are many ways you can make a difference.

• Visit: Our tenants love to interact on a one-to-one basis. Work on a puzzle, play a game, read a book with one of our tenants.
• Entertain: Share a talent with our tenants. Play the piano, bring the band in, show off your dance moves, or tell jokes.
Lead: Organize a weekly event, such as game night or an exercise class, lead an art project, share your hobby or provide assistance for an activity such as Bingo or Happy Hour.
