Justified through Faith

Rev. Mark Bartsch June 13, 2022

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  (Romans 5:1)

I have heard it said that peace is the absence of war. That statement doesn’t go nearly far enough. Peace is so much more than simply an absence of conflict or disagreement. Peace is a process that builds on the desire of groups or individuals to no longer disagree. It is necessary to continue to do more than simply maintain that peace. Efforts must be made to continue toward creating a lasting peace.

“Jesus was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” (Romans 4:25)

We are blessed with the gift of faith to know this declaration of righteousness is ours. We are not worried. We are not upset. We look forward in our lives of faith to know great peace and joy.

Are you at peace? The problems in your life might still affect you in a negative way. You might still experience anxiety and worries. But you know you can give all your worries and fears to Jesus, because he was delivered over to death for your sins.

Others may laugh at you or ridicule you because you trust in Jesus as your Savior. Some will tell you that your faith is irrational. Amid the trials and suffering the world tries to throw at you, you can stand firm in the love of Jesus. You know that you have been declared righteous, and nothing stands between you and your Savior.

PRAYER: Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for the gifts of faith, righteousness, and peace. We have seen what you had to endure for us. You were mocked, scorned, and beaten. You willingly took our sins and paid for them all on the cross. Thank you for your sacrifice. In your name, we pray. Amen.
