Showing our faith

Rev. Roger Woller November 14, 2022

This is evidence of God’s righteous verdict that resulted in your being counted worthy of God’s kingdom, for which you also suffer. (2 Thessalonians 1:5)

I have a prolife sign on the back of my red pickup.  People who see it know I believe life is a gift from God and ending a life before a baby is born is wrong.  People have expressed their displeasure with my beliefs by their actions and words. That is not going to make me take off the sign.

When you believe in Jesus, witness your faith, share you believe the Bible is God’s inspired Word and believe what Bible says really happened, you will be persecuted. When you believe Jesus, true God and man in one person, suffered, died because of everyone’s sins and rose from the dead, victorious over sin, death and the devil, you will be mocked. When you confess your faith in Jesus, the words of today’s verse will apply to you.

You will be persecuted and endure trials for your faith and your way of life.  You will be convicted of being a Christian. What Paul told the Christians in Thessalonica; he says to you.

This is evidence of God’s righteous verdict that resulted in your being counted worthy of God’s kingdom, for which you also suffer. (2 Thessalonians 1:5)

When others do not believe what you believe, don’t repay ridicule with ridicule. God will take care of that someday; you don’t have to.  Show evidence of your faith in all you say and do.  Live worthy of God’s kingdom.  Be the best witness of your faith in Jesus. Pray for others to be led by the Holy Spirit to believe what you believe.  Pray for everyone to have joy of eternal life in heaven because of what Jesus has done for them.

Prayer: Dear Lord, give me the strength and confidence to continue to confess my faith in you with my words and actions.  I know you are always with me, and eternal life is mine because you have clothed me with your righteousness.  Even though I am persecuted for my faith, keep me faithful until death.  Amen.
