We need your help.

The ripple effects of COVID are not over for our senior care communities in Belle Plaine. The shortage of professional caregivers has limited the ability of long-term care and assisted living providers around the state to care for residents. Minnesota seniors and their families are being denied the care they need because there aren’t enough caregivers. We want to serve every senior who comes to our doors, but we can’t because we struggle to have enough staff to provide safe, quality care.

In October 2022, more than 11,000 admissions were denied from nursing homes and assisted living communities in Minnesota due to staffing shortage according to a survey conducted by the Long-Term Care Imperative. This year, we are working with state legislators to advance a bill that would raise wages for professional caregivers in aging services. House File 733 and Senate File 780 would provide a rate increase for nursing homes, in turn to raise caregiver wages.

This increase is critical to ensure seniors have a right to care in their communities, not just here in Belle Plaine but across the state. According to the Minnesota’s Department of Human Services, Minnesota’s over 65 population will double between 2010 and 2030, and by then more than 1 in 5 Minnesotans will be an older adult.

While we continue to care for the souls of our residents, we need your voice to help support our dedicated team of caregivers. Your support will make a profound difference to those we serve. Today, we ask for a moment of your time to email your legislators to support HF 733 and SF780.

Thank you for supporting our care community.
