Have you considered confirmation of individuals with special needs?
God has certainly blessed the work of nearly 180 Jesus Cares programs across the United States as well as the work in Malawi, Africa, and Grenada. During any given week, there are Worship at the Cross services and Jesus Cares Bible Classes held from Minnesota to Texas and from Virginia to California.
In addition to these long-time staples of Jesus Cares Ministries, a trend which has increased is congregations requesting help and guidance as they seek to offer confirmation instruction to individuals with special needs.
If confirmation instruction is something you are considering, the first step is to request our “Confirming and Communing those with special needs” document by emailing jcm@tlha.org.
Document details
- This document outlines the process of confirmation instruction as congregations work toward being able to prepare individuals with special needs for receiving the Lord’s Supper.
- Part of that document is a simplified version of “The Christian Questions.” We suggest using as both a baseline for determining the level of Bible knowledge which an individual has as well as questions for examination at the end of the confirmation instruction process.
We offer two levels of curriculum for confirmation instruction. One is on a level similar to our “Dear Christian Friend” curriculum, and one is a little high level for individuals who might be able to read simple English sentences.
Pastor Joel Gaertner, the JCM National Director, enjoys working with pastors, JCM program leaders and others to figure out what path is best to serve individuals.
Please reach out to Joel at jcm@tlha.org if confirmation instruction is desired by individuals with special needs in your congregation or in JCM program.
