Resurrection Confidence!
As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and that at the end of time he will stand over the dust. Then, even after my skin has been destroyed, nevertheless, in my own flesh I will see God. Job 19:25 & 26
Where do we turn when we suffer with grief, pain, and death? Job was one who was knee deep with grief, pain, and death. He lost everything. His body was covered with sores. His children and servants were killed. He looked to be on death’s doorstep. His “friends” added to the pain by accusing him of gross sins and pointing out all his misery as evidence that he must have done something for God to do this to him. You can get the sense that these “friends” were the mouthpiece for Satan. Satan means adversary or accuser. Humanly speaking, there was no comfort or confidence that things would get better for Job. And yet in the middle of all this misery, Job spoke these words. He turned to the Redeemer who lives and will raise him from the dead so that he can see God with his very own body.
We are also constantly dealing with grief, pain, and death. Think about all the losses you have had to deal with in your life. How many of you are dealing with pain in your body? How many funerals have you attended? Perhaps, your body is about to return to dust. Where is your confidence that things will get better when humanly speaking, it will not get better? Jesus, your Redeemer lives! His resurrection gave Job confidence, and it can give you confidence.
Jesus body died on Good Friday to pay for your sins, and his body come back to life on Easter to assure you that your flesh will rise from the dust and ashes. In your flesh, your own body, you will see God! What you are going through will not keep Jesus from raising you from the grave. Job did not have to do anything and neither do you. Since our resurrection depends on the power of the Redeemer. He bought you with the blood he shed on the cross. And his Father accepted the payment. You now belong to the Redeemer who lives again. Continue to live with the resurrection confidence!
Dear risen Redeemer, hold us in the palm of your almighty hand. Let us be confident that death is defeated and we will rise to gaze upon your loving face forever. In your name we pray! Amen!
