Day 2 of Lent: All you need is love
“Love, love, love – All you need is love”
Perhaps you recognize those words as the lyrics from the well-known Beatles song “All you need is love.”
If you honestly assess it, you also know that love is not all you need. Love is so fickle and unpredictable that you can’t place all your hopes in love.
However, if you were to revise the phrase to this “All you need is God’s love,” that is true.
What is often referred to as the most well-known Bible passage, John 3:16, reminds us “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Ponder what John tells us that God’s love led him to do “gave his one and only Son” and what the result was “whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” That truly is all the love you need.
Maybe you have become disenchanted with human love because you’ve been burned or let down. When you know God’s love, you realize that it truly is something you’ll never want to give up.
