Have you done all you can?
1 Corinthians 9:22b “I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.”
“I’ve done all that I can.” “What more do they want me to do?”
Maybe you’ve found yourself expressing an attitude like that or maybe it was someone else saying things like that.

What is your reaction when you hear things similar to those above? Do you agree with them or do you think to yourself, “There’s always more that you can do?”
Our Bible verse for this week is a reminder that when it comes to “the care of the soul,” there is always more that we can do. We need to “think outside the box” to see if there are different things or things we never thought of before to share Jesus with those who don’t yet know him or haven’t heard of him.
First of all, think inside the ministry of TLHA and in particular your area of the ministry of TLHA. Are there more things we could be doing or things we could be doing differently to “become all things” to those whom we serve and others whose lives we touch? Are there some ideas you could share with your chaplain or others on the staff? Are we serving every last resident the best we can? Are we serving and supporting the families of those whom we serve as well as we can? Are there other things we could be doing to serve and support our team members with “the care of the soul?” If you have any ideas, share them with me. I’d love to hear your ideas.
But “becoming all things to all people” doesn’t end the moment you walk out the door or punch out from your shift at TLHA. Remember that Paul encourages us “so that by all possible means I might save some.” We can always say “I’m tired,” “They won’t listen,” “I don’t want to embarrass myself” or some other excuse. The next time you are tempted to pass by someone with one of those excuses, think of the person who took time to share Jesus with you. What if they had made an excuse or not taken the time? You would not have the peace and comfort you have with your faith in Jesus. I am not writing this to make you feel guilty or ashamed. I am asking you to think about this so that all of us together can do all we can to “become all things to all people so that by all possible means we might save some.”
