Simple ways to celebrate your pastor

Marketing October 19, 2016

Pastor Appreciation Month is here. While some of the more trivial “national holidays” celebrating blog_pastor-appreciation.jpgdonuts, golf and beards may pass by unmarked, this is one to put on your calendar. Showing appreciation and support for those who serve you on God’s behalf is what God himself desires: “Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:12)

Most pastors would downplay recognition or attention because they enjoy the opportunity and privilege of serving others and don’t do it for the glory. Having said that, pastors do appreciate a simple thank you, support as they’re doing their work and your prayers.

You know how uplifting a simple thank you can be.  If you want to do something — not just during Pastor Appreciation Month, but all the time — take a moment to give your pastor or chaplain a sincere “thank you.”  Let him know how much you appreciate his service, dedication and commitment.

Another way to show your pastor your appreciation is by doing all you can to support him as he carries out his job. Like other professions, people are often quick to criticize the pastor when he is not doing things the way they would like.  If you witness a negative conversation like this, step in and defend and support your pastor.

One thing a pastor craves is the prayers of those whom he serves.  It might seem insignificant, but letting your pastor know you are praying for him will mean to the world to him and will show him tremendous appreciation and support.

At The Lutheran Home Association, we are grateful for our chaplains and the work they do to share God’s unfailing love with residents, their families, our caregivers and many others connected to our ministry. In support of this ministry, we are asking for your prayers and your financial gifts. Your gift TODAY will allow us to continue to share God’s everlasting love.
