The Lutheran Home River Falls Campus welcomes administrator
BELLE PLAINE, MINN., March 4, 2016 – The Lutheran Home River Falls Campus welcomed Spencer Beard as its new Executive Director earlier last month. Two open houses will give community members a chance to meet Beard as well as other members of the leadership team. Dates are set for:
- March 29 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.: Ice Cream Social at The Lutheran Home: River Falls (skilled nursing)
- April 5 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.: Pie Social at Wellhaven Senior Living
The public is invited to attend; refreshments will be served.
Beard steps into his role with five years of experience in healthcare, including group home, hospital, skilled nursing, rehabilitation and assisted living settings.
“I like to grow things, I like to lead people and I think The Lutheran Home Campus is a great place to do that,” Beard said. “And our mission is so powerful: to share Christ’s love as we serve the spiritual, physical, intellectual and emotional needs of people entrusted to our care and others whose lives we touch.”
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with an emphasis in healthcare, from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and is a licensed nursing home administrator nationally and in the state of Wisconsin.
“Spencer is dedicated to leading by example, and we’re excited to have him on our team,” said Mariann Wiebusch, Vice President of Operations for The Lutheran Home Association. “He brings passion, energy and compassion to this position, all attributes we value in our leaders and team members.”
The Hager City native began his career as an administrator in training at Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS) – Oakridge in Osseo. During his time with Mayo, Spencer received the Heyde Health Care Entrepreneurial Leadership Award recognizing his work with TeleMonitoring Program, which provides home health monitoring to patients through innovative measures and technology.
Most recently, Beard served as the administrator of a similar sized skilled care facility in south central Wisconsin. He also has experience in a Residential Care Apartment Complexes (RCAC) licensed facility. Prior to becoming an administrator, Beard worked as a caregiver for individuals with cognitive and psychiatric disabilities.
“I’ve always enjoyed being in a service industry,” Beard said. “Being in long-term care, you get to learn so much; you get to hear people’s stories.”
Former executive director for The Lutheran Home Campus Twylah Wieland retired earlier this year after nearly 17 years at The Lutheran Home River Falls Campus.
