Former TLHA President & CEO Pastor Robert Schlicht Called Home to Heaven

It is with sadness and joy that we inform you Pastor Robert Schlicht was called home to heaven on January 7, 2015. Pastor Schlicht was President and Chief Executive Officer of The Lutheran Home Association (TLHA) from 1960-1993. During his tenure with TLHA, Pastor Schlicht:

  • acquired the River Falls Campus in Wis.
  • managed an adoption and counseling agency.
  • conceived and built Hope Residence in Belle Plaine, Minn.
  • rebuilt The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine.
  • authored Care of the Soul, a book about the history of TLHA.
  • dedicated Kingsway Retirement Living in Belle Plaine, Minn.
  • spent 2 years as the President of the American College of Healthcare Administrators.
  • co-founded the Organization of WELS Seniors (OWLS).
  • authored Cost Accounting in Long Term Care which lead to nationwide speaking engagements. 

As a pastor, he served at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Globe, Wis. from 1957-1959, Trinity Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, Minn. from 1959-1976, and at The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine from 1960-1993. 

There will be funeral services tomorrow, Saturday, January 10, at 11 a.m. at Emmaus Lutheran Church, in Phoenix, Ariz. An additional service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, Minn. on Monday, January 19, at 11 a.m.
