Pastor Miller retiring from the public ministry

Marketing November 7, 2013

For the past 13 years, Pastor Dallas Miller has served as Chaplain, Administrator of Jesus
Cares Ministries, and Director of Spiritual Services for The Lutheran Home Association.
This past year Pastor Miller elected to move to a part-time role. This past week, Pastor
Miller has elected to retire from the public ministry effective December 31, 2013.

Pastor Miller has been a faithful servant of the Lord in his role. A consummate optimist, a
great sense of humor, and a commitment to share Jesus in every role are all traits that
our ministry has benefited with his presence. Pastor Miller and his wife, Mary, have also
helped in our Auxiliary, thrift store, and numerous other efforts. To say that we will miss
Pastor and Mary is an understatement. At the same time, we are confident that they
will continue to serve and volunteer to not only help us but other ministries and
congregations as God grants them the strength.

I cannot thank Dallas enough for his support for the many years we worked together.
We have been blessed with his efforts and his heritage of a “farm boy” from the great
state of South Dakota.

At the Board meeting next week, the formal request for retirement will be received. A
transition plan will also be finalized in which Pastor Joel Gaertner will assume an
additional role of leading our chaplaincy program as well as National Director of Jesus
Cares Ministries.

I would like to again thank Dallas and Mary for their faithful contributions to The
Lutheran Home Association. May they find joy and peace wherever the Lord’s
pathway may lead in the future.

Caring about the Care of the Soul,
