Giving Has No Age Requirement
Erna is a 105-year-old woman passionate about giving to multiple organizations. First and fourth grade sisters, Brooklyn and Matthea, both give when and where they can. Lindsey is a compassionate college student who knows the true meaning of giving. Becky and Randy’s children and grandchildren truly have an example to live by.
About Erna
Erna’s parents taught her that giving is a part of living, and sharing Jesus should happen at every stage of life.
“I’m glad to support TLHA because they share Jesus with people who don’t come to my church,” said Erna. “I’m carrying out the Great Commission when I give to TLHA.”
Like Erna, many people choose to give first to their home church and then to other organizations that make a difference in the lives of others.
“Doesn’t everyone give to several places? A lot or a little doesn’t matter – God knows how to use it.”
About Brooklyn and Matthea
When asked about why she gives, Brooklyn stated, “It’s fun! I just want to help people because it makes them happy and it feels awesome to me!”
Not understanding why people wouldn’t give, Brooklyn then asked, “Everyone wants to have fun and feel awesome, don’t they?”
Her older sister, Matthea, agrees.
“God says, ‘Go into the entire world and preach the good news!’ I’m glad my money goes around the world when I give to Jesus Cares Ministries. God wants us to help other people.” said Matthea.
The sisters share the love of Jesus with an 81-year-old woman in a wheelchair by visiting her and singing her songs. They understand they can’t go around singing to everyone, so giving to TLHA is their way of sharing the love of Jesus with even more people.
“I give my money to TLHA so they can have more buildings for people to live in, and then they can have other people come sing to them,” said Matthea. “No one can go everywhere, but everyone should help other people be happy and know Jesus. Doesn’t God want us to help no matter how old we are?”
Yes, Matthea, he does. These two girls have already learned and experienced the joys of giving at a young age. They may not be able to sing to everyone, but they know they can still help.
About Lindsey
Even though she is a college student paying for her education, Lindsey still finds a way to give to TLHA’s program, New Friends, because she knows that God will take care of her no matter what.
“I’ve still been able to make my college payments just fine even though I give to New Friends,” said Lindsey. “Giving during college makes me certain I can give when I am working.”
Like any other college student, Lindsey lives on a budget, but she says she’s never missed any of the money she’s given to TLHA.
“I just keep giving and God just keeps taking care of me!”
About Becky and Randy
Throughout their lives together, Becky and Randy made 99 gifts to TLHA. Even when life was hard for their family, they kept giving and never reduced the amount they gave.
“We sometimes wondered if we could still give the amount we decided on earlier in our life, but we didn’t want to reduce giving just because our income was reduced,” they said. “Because we see so much ministry work through TLHA, we know that our gifts support people.”
Recently, the couple celebrated their 100th gift to TLHA. With tears in their eyes, they shared that with each gift they gave to TLHA, God abundantly blessed them every time.
God’s gifts know no age limits, and every gift to TLHA, no matter how big or small, is used to strengthen and further our ministry.
