Day 5 of Lent: What is your greatest possession?
What is your greatest possession? In other words, what would be the one thing you would take with you onto a deserted island or the one thing you would go running back in to your house to save in a fire?
The verse I’d like you to ponder today is very pointed about what we should consider as our most important possession. “Heaven and earth may pass away, but God’s Word will never pass away” (Matthew 24:35).
So was God’s Word on your list for the one thing you considered most important? How easily we take for granted the one thing which can strengthen our faith and sustain our souls. This is sort of a follow up to our devotion for this week. It is a reminder that we far too easily fall into the worldly trap of getting wrapped up in our possessions and worldly things.
Enjoy the earthly blessings God has given you, but make sure you keep God’s Word as your most important possession.
