Jesus’ power heals!

What would people be willing to do to heal themselves or someone they love? People are willing to spend every cent they have if it means they or a loved one would be healed. People are even willing to put themselves through experimental trials for a possible cure. But no matter how much money is spent…no matter what experimental trials they undergo…they will never be able to find the cure for their ailment.
The reason why people cannot buy a cure for their ailment or find an experimental trial to possibly find a cure is because they are trying to find a fix for symptoms of the true ailment. Every disease, every cancer, ever ailment know to man is a symptom of sin. Every symptom of sin will lead to the inevitable, death. You think of all the medical and technical advances this world has produce and they still are no cure for sin and death. So, what hope does this world have? What hope do you have when suffering from bodily ailments? Remember who has the power to heal!
Why were people going out to see Jesus? They were seeking a cure from their ailments and power was going out of Jesus to do that very thing. And they got what they were seeking! But you might be thinking, Jesus is no long here on earth where we can touch him and receive the power to heal our physical ailment. And you are correct! But Jesus was not here to heal only their physical ailment. If he was, then all he would be doing is healing the symptoms and not the cause. Jesus’ power going out from him is ore powerful than that. He has the power to heal the cause of our physical ailments.
His death on the cross is the power to destroy sin’s destructive power. The proof Jesus has the power over our sin is his empty tomb. Through Jesus’ cross and empty tomb, power comes out of him and cures us from sin and death. Even though there are no earthly cure, we have been given a heavenly cure. We have a safe place in heaven and a physical resurrection through Jesus’ power and that cure cannot be taking away. So, keep seeking the power of the great Physician of both body and soul!
Dear Physician of body and soul, continue to send forth your healing power and cure us from sin, the cause of all our ailment. When we are weak and weary, let us look to you for the power to save us. Empower us every day with a future with you in heaven and eventually a physical resurrection to life. In your name we pray. Amen!
