BELLE PLAINE, MINN. November 22, 2016 — Heritage Homes resident Carole Sauer painted the design that will appear on nearly 12,000 Christmas cards sent out by The Lutheran Home Association (TLHA) throughout the nation and around the world this December. Her painting of an angel illustrates the great joy in this year’s contest theme: “Glory to God in the highest heaven and peace to His people on earth.” (Luke 2:14)

ChristmasCard.jpgCarole is a resident at Heritage Homes in Watertown, Wis. Heritage Homes offers independent living, assisted living and memory care. Originally from Newburg, Wis., Carole moved to Watertown after she married her husband, Dave. She has six children and worked as a teacher’s aide. Carole has always had a love for crafts, antiques, painting and her grandchildren. Since she has been a resident at Heritage Homes, she has continued to paint and share her talent with others.

The Lutheran Home Association, a national non-profit health care and disability ministry, started its annual Christmas card contest in 1995. Residents, clients, tenants and other individuals served through TLHA’s homes, services and programs are invited to participate by submitting original artwork created using pens, pencils, markers or paints. This year’s Bible verse highlights the angel’s announcement of peace, a Christmas message to share with all people.

This year’s theme is a Bible passage that forms the basis for the ministry of The Lutheran Home Association and is the reason we exist,” said President and CEO Michael Klatt. “Our resident artist for this card, who we are privileged to serve, speaks of the great joy we have in this season.”
