Hope Residence Team Members Nominated for ARRM Cares Award

Hope Residence honors Jennifer Scott [pictured on left] and Kayla Reed as nominees for the ARRM Cares Award, an annual program that recognizes the top direct support professionals (DSP) in Minnesota. Our DSP team members deliver a wide array of services to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities within our care community settings.
Scott exemplifies all the top qualities of an amazing caregiver as she is dedicated, caring, and hard-working.
“She has touched the hearts and lives of many our residents lucky enough to receive her excellent care,” explained Becca Pelowski, Program Manager at Hope Residence. “She lovingly interacts with residents while providing the care they need.”
Her dedication is easily seen when she accompanies residents to medical appointments, which can be several hours long. To ensure her patients feel safe, Scott stays with them during the entire process. Many family members often praise the excellent care Scott provides.
Reed has cared for residents at Hope Residence for 12 years, working the overnight shift for the last six years. Oftentimes, this position does not include a lot of interactions with residents; however, Reed cares for several residents who stay up late.
All residents greatly benefit from one-on-one attention and that is often how she begins her shift.
“Kayla will start her shift with a color session with this resident,” explained Rhonda Walsh, Program Manager at Hope Residence. “It helps her get attention and allows her to be happy.”
Being on the night shift requires an individual who is responsible, self-motivated, capable of making important decisions, and able to work without a huge support group—all of which describe Reed perfectly.
“Jennifer and Kayla are excellent examples of our caregivers at Hope Residence,” said Debra Wilbright, Director of Disability Services at Hope Residence. “DSPs are the heart and soul of our care community and provide compassionate care to our residents day in and day out.”
“We are thankful for Jennifer, Kayla, and all of our team members. Without them, we would not be able to continue to serve a population that is often overlooked,” said Christopher Meyer, CEO of The Lutheran Home Association. “Congratulations to all those recognized during the annual conference and others who make up the team alongside them.”
