The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine Earns 5 Stars from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
Belle Plaine, MN (December 28, 2021) —The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine, a skilled nursing facility, has earned the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS’s) five-star overall quality rating with five stars for staffing and registered nurse staffing. The overall quality rating is based on ratings for the areas of annual health inspections, quality measures, and staffing.
“Our rating reflects our commitment to quality Christian care demonstrated by our team members,” said Christopher Meyer, The Lutheran Home Association’s chief executive officer. “Their dedication to our residents and our ministry is valued and gives residents and their loved ones peace of mind.”
The CMS uses a complex rating for skilled nursing facilities nationwide. This metric was developed to help individuals, their families, and caregivers to compare nursing homes easily. The CMS updates its report quarterly. Care communities with five stars are considered to have above-average quality, and those with one star are below average.
According to cms.gov, the CMS gives an overall rating and then a separate rating for four areas.
- Health inspections. The most recent survey findings are weighted more than those of the prior year are.
- Quality measures. The quality measures offer information about how well nursing homes care for their residents’ physical and clinical needs.
- Staffing and RN staffing. The staffing rating has information about the number of hours of care that nursing staff provide to each resident each day on average.
“Day in and day out, our caregivers, along with their care team and our partners, provide quality care,” said Jacqueline E. M. Grimm, a licensed nursing home administrator and the regional director of senior services for The Lutheran Home Association. “Without them, we couldn’t achieve this high level of rating.”
