Winona Health brings physical therapy to St. Michael’s

FOUNTAIN CITY, WIS. September 30, 2015 — Residents of St. Michael’s Assisted Living and their neighbors in Fountain City will have local access to physical therapy services thanks to a new partnership with Winona Health.

Winona Health physical therapist (PT) Travis Kramolis will offer services two days a week at St. Michael’s beginning Oct. 5. No matter where they go for health care services, Fountain City-area residents can receive physical therapy at St. Michael’s.

“We are excited about this partnership for a number of reasons,” said St. Michael’s Administrator Tiffany Olson. “We feel extremely fortunate to be able to open our doors to the community for a close, convenient place for physical therapy services. And our residents who are in need of those services won’t have to travel either.”

Previously, assisted living residents who required therapy and met the Medicare requirement for in-home physical therapy had a delay in service. Partnering with Winona Health will significantly reduce the time between identifying therapy needs and the start of therapy.

Travis Kramolis PT Winona Health DSC09025“Physical therapy can make all the difference in how someone recovers from an injury or surgery, but sometimes people don’t take advantage of referrals to physical therapy because it’s inconvenient,” Travis said. “Offering services in Fountain City is one way we can make it more convenient for people to get the care they need.”

Travis earned his physical therapy degree at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and has been a practicing PT for more than eight years. He treats patients of all ages and serves as a rehabilitation therapy manager for Winona Health. Travis diagnoses and has a special interest in sports medicine and orthopedics.

Partnering with Winona Health is the most recent development in a long history of St. Michael’s opening its doors to the public. The facility has a spacious community room in its lower level used for weekly exercise classes and community education. Local residents and organizations hosting any type of event are welcome to contact St. Michael’s for use of the room at no charge.

“We are happy to serve our supportive community,” Tiffany said.

For a referral to Winona Health’s Physical Therapy Services, patients can contact their primary care providers. In addition to Fountain City, Winona Health offers physical therapy services in Winona and Rushford.
