2020 Vision: Camp tradition continues at Hope Residence
Last year, when team members organized the first-ever Camp Hope, they dealt with rising costs and limited camp-type options for residents. This year, the camp seemed like destiny.

Once again, the week featured special devotions from Pastor Patrick Feldhus, Hope’s Chaplain, and various activities within the care community.
The week looked a little different, though, without any outings and smaller group sizes due to the current restrictions in place for the Covid-19 pandemic. When picking a theme for this year’s event, Pastor Feldhus came up with “2020 Vision.”
“I came up with that theme due to the year being 2020, which is also known for perfect vision being 20/20. Considering this year’s many challenges, I wanted the residents to see the hope we have in Jesus even when things do not always look good,” explained Pastor Feldhus.

Thinking out the box, team members planned fun activities. Special camp activities included taking old-time photos, movie night with popcorn, carnival games, campfires with s’mores, and visits from Barnyard Buddies.
“I liked everything about the camp. I had a lot of fun,” Joyce, a Hope resident, said.
Despite the challenges of hosting the camp, this year’s efforts only proved that it’s here to stay every year.
“My favorite part of the camp is watching the joy spread across the residents’ faces,” said Megan Lambrecht, Therapeutic Recreation Director. “We love being able to continue this tradition at Hope.”
