Animals provide more than smiles

Wellhaven Senior Living October 3, 2019

Wellhaven residents were recently treated to a new experience. Cock-A-Doodle-Zoo, an exotic petting zoo, brought a variety of different animals. A representative from Cock-A-Doodle-Zoo shared information about each of the different animals. Wellhaven tenants and community members were able to pet and interact with the different animals.

Animals can help facilitate social interactions by easing tension and nervousness. Similar calming affects have been shown from owning pets.  Wellhaven tenants are allowed to have a small pet, like a cat or a dog.  Family members are encouraged to bring household pets when they come to visit.

“Pets provide unconditional love and joy for people, especially seniors,” explained Beth Ann Schultz, Wellhaven manager. “We invite community and family members to share their family pets with our tenants.”

Wellhaven is always looking for different therapy pet options
for our tenants. If interested in sharing a therapy pet,
contact Laura at 715-426-4633 or lbswanson@tlha.org.
