Chaplain constantly amazed by residents
The residents who reside in memory care at Heritage Homes continue to surprise Pastor Mark Bartsch, the community’s chaplain.
“It’s the little things,” said Pastor Bartsch. “Most of them recognize me and call me ‘Pastor.’”
While visiting, residents share many things with him, ranging from their thoughts to their feelings and activities. Each week, Pastor Bartsch hosts a Worship at the Cross service. During this service designed specifically for seniors, residents will sing and pray along with him.
“Although their memory may be fading, the words of hymns and prayers never seem to disappear,” said Pastor Bartsch. “Their understanding continues to amaze me.”
Our chaplains set our care communities apart. With a dedicated chaplain being present at each of our care communities in Minnesota and Wisconsin, our chaplains are the hands and feet of Jesus, bringing our ministry’s mission to life.
