Honoring our family and friends

Wellhaven Senior Living December 26, 2019

“She gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.” (Luke 2:7)

During Wellhaven’s annual “Tree of Love” lighting ceremony, a small group  gathered together outside the building. It was a calm still moment as Pastor Kenley Mann, Chaplain at Wellhaven, shared a prayer to remember tenants who have been called home to Heaven in the past year.  With the press of a button, beautifully decorated trees began to shine brightly against the dark sky. Throughout the Christmas season, the trees will remain lit to honor those in Heaven.

“The moment the trees lit up, the night sky was overwhelmingly beautiful,” said Laura Swanson, Activities Coordinator and Marketing Assistant at Wellhaven. “The ceremony provided a wonderful opportunity to honor family and friends.”

The Tree of Love event serves as fundraiser for the Wellhaven care community and a kickoff to the Christmas season. In addition to the tree lighting, the event featured a special program with holiday music. Attendees could purchase a string or lights or an ornament in honor or in memory of their family or friend.

Proceeds from the event will directly enhance the lives of Wellhaven tenants including the renovations of the dining room space. Plans for the dining room include new furniture, flooring and updated décor. Not only do Wellhaven tenants enjoy their meals in the space but a wide variety of activities are also held there.
