Sharing their time

Boessling Village Apartments February 27, 2020

During the Christmas season, Boessling residents shared their time to prepare gifts for others. With funds from a Thrivent Action Team Project grant, Karen Lambrecht (Residential Services Manager at Boessling) organized gifts for individuals at Juvenile Alternative Facility (JAF) in Jordan and residents at Hope Residence.

The gifts for the JAF contain a variety of hygiene products and everyday items that many take for granted, including deodorant, pony tail holders, nail polish, socks and more. As the items arrived, Boessling residents organize the items to make filling the bags an easy process. In addition to the day-to-day items, the bags include candy and snack items. All the items are placed in a duffel bag. Upon delivery, Karen and her mother teach the kids how to iron their names on the bags. Residents at Hope received gift bags filled with goodies including body wash or lotion and a Thrivent Action Team t-shirt.

The project is supported by the Thrivent Financial Action Team Project. Several members of Karen’s family are members and used their funds to support these projects. All Thrivent members are eligible to lead a Thrivent Action Team and support an unmet need in the community.

“This project allows residents here to give back during the Christmas season,” explained Karen. “We are also able to support those at the JAF and our friends at Hope.”

In addition, Karen used a portion of the funds to provide the Boessling residents with a fun-filled day of pizza, beverages, games and prizes.  Each of them was given a special gift bag.
