Thank you for helping Bonnie get home

The Lutheran Home Belle Plaine April 26, 2021

When Bonnie Blanshan took a fall recently, it wasn’t just a physical ordeal. More than having to recover from her broken femur, she faced the emotional trauma of being separated from her husband, Albert.

But Bonnie responded with courage—resolving to gain strength and recover… and to do that in time to be home with Albert for their 20th wedding anniversary!

As soon as Bonnie arrived at The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine’s transitional care unit, she began a course of personalized treatment. Thanks to friends like you, she was able to receive the first-class physical and occupational therapy she needed to restore her mobility and independence.

“Little by little, we got my leg to move,” Bonnie shares. “Once I was able to access the therapy room, we used the equipment, like weights. It’s exactly what I needed to be able to get in and out of bed and chairs more easily.”

Bonnie’s perseverance paid off and within six weeks she was able to return home to join her husband, Albert.

“It was my 20th wedding anniversary, and I made it!” Bonnie says with a smile.

Thank you for your support, which empowers seniors like Bonnie to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals!
