Thank you for helping Hope residents “shine like stars”!

Hope Residence April 26, 2021

Everything we do together at The Lutheran Home Association is grounded on our conviction that every life is infinitely precious. This beautiful truth was celebrated in style at Hope Residence [Belle Plaine, Minn.] recently when the residents had a very special Night to Shine!

Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom experience for people with special needs, and it’s a real highlight in the calendar. The pandemic meant that this year’s event looked a little different, but the joy and delight of the evening was as vibrant as ever.

“The event was timely,” shares Debra Wilbright, Director of Disability Services at Hope. “It brought fun and joy into our community for both the residents and the team members.”

Christina, one Hope resident, agrees.

“I had too much fun. It was all my favorite!”

Night to Shine is an international movement sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation with over 110,000 participants in over 34 countries. As part of this global event, the Hope prom participants were given goodie bags with flowers, T-shirts, treats, and gift cards.

The residents loved dressing up in prom dresses and suits and had fun with dancing, karaoke, and a photo booth. Plus, they enjoyed a catered meal and ice cream sundae bar.

But as ever, the highlight of the evening was the crowning ceremony where each and every honored guest was crowned a king or queen of the prom.

This joy-filled evening reminded the Hope residents of their value and worth by giving them the chance to shine “like stars in the sky” (Philippians 2:15). Through your partnership, this truth is lived out every single day at Hope—through the caring and compassionate community you help provide. Thank you!
