The Joys of Christmas and Baptism

Every year, we hear how Jesus Cares Ministries’ (JCM) programs are sharing the Christmas story.
Participants at the Christ Alone Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Thiensville, Wisconsin, recently gathered to host their annual Christmas program “What Is His Name?” that told the story of the birth of our Lord as a Christmas tree was decorated in honor of our Savior.
Throughout the service, ornaments were placed on the tree representing the various names of Jesus: King of Kings, Light of the World, Prince of Peace, Wonderful Counselor, Lamb of God, Messiah, Teacher, and more.
This year, the service featured a special event: A JCM participant was baptized! While celebrating the birth of Jesus, Carolyn Kiewit confessed her faith and was welcomed into the church community.
Carolyn has been attending JCM for nearly three years, but only recently was it made known that she was never baptized. The timing was perfect. Combining Carolyn’s baptism with our Christmas service meant her JCM friends would be present as she joined the community of Christians.
“Looking forward, further instruction towards Carolyn’s confirmation will take place in the new year,” said Pastor Kurt Ebert.
“I attended this service, and there is nothing quite like the joy expressed when individuals with special needs come together to praise God,” explained Pastor Joel Gaertner, National Director of JCM. “We love to see individuals benefitting from being a part of our church community and continuing to grow in God’s Word.”
By using resources to guide programs that lead individuals with special needs through the steps of faith—from baptism to confirmation—Jesus Cares Ministries celebrates building life-long relationships with God. Learn more.
