Wellhaven senior picnic draws crowd
Wellhaven Senior Living began a new tradition when they hosted a Senior Picnic in honor of National Senior Center month. More than 100 people, including tenants, their families and friends and community members, attended the celebration.
“There was a lot of visiting, a lot of laughter and a lot of raving over the chicken. They thought the food was catered but it was actually our cook, Jenifer Edwards, that prepared everything,” said Beth Ann Schultz, Manager at Wellhaven.
Prior to the event, Wellhaven tenants assisted by helping to peel and clean sweet corn for the meal.
The picnic was originally scheduled to be hosted outside, but organizers moved the celebration inside due to sprinkling rain throughout the morning.
Guests were asked to bring a dessert to share. “There was everything from brownies to cookies to cake to cupcakes. It was quite delicious,” said Beth Ann.
When considering making the picnic an annual event, the response was overwhelmingly positive.
