Wellhaven tenant donates homemade hats
For several years, Wellhaven tenant Virginia Reis has been crocheting. She has crocheted several different items including tablecloths, blankets and scarves. These days she only makes hats.
“No two hats of mine are alike, I use a different pattern for each one,” Virginia explained.
Virginia donates her completed hats to cancer patients through the Look Good Feel Better program. The program teaches beauty techniques to people with cancer to help them manage the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. Virginia finds time to crochet every day.
“I just sit down and crochet a few lines when I have the time. Sometimes I can complete a hat in one day but sometimes it takes me two or three,” she explained.
For the past six years, Virginia has donating her hats. She recently completed and donated her 1,000th hat.
