Worship service music engages teen at JCM program
Everyone has their favorite part of a worship service. For some, like Moriah (read her story here), it’s hearing an inspirational message or asking for a prayer request. For others, like Alex, a 14-year-old who attends Jesus Cares at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Citrus Heights, CA., it’s listening to the music.
“He loves the music, it’s his favorite part,” said Melissa, Alex’s mother and JCM Coordinator. “He cracks me up. He will rock back and forth to the music, and when the music is over and they go into the sermon, he’ll get up and leave.”
Thankfully, Alex often watches on a laptop or iPad, so Melissa can bring the service to wherever Alex decides to sit down.
“In the special needs world, a lot of times they say you adapt things for the person, or you meet them where they are,” Melissa said. “That’s what we’re doing with online services for Alex.”

With Jesus Cares providing Worship at the Cross services on-demand, Alex can hear God’s Word in whatever way works best for him: anytime, anywhere, and on any device.
