You make it possible to share the Gospel creatively

Thanks to friends like you, TLHA residents continue to hear the truth of God’s love even in the midst of a pandemic!

The mission of The Lutheran Home Association has always been to share Christ’s love with those entrusted to our care. And while the COVID-19 outbreak required adjusting how that takes place within the various care communities, friends like you have made sure access to God’s Word has not changed.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, TLHA chaplains have been able to provide Bible studies, worship services, and comfort to residents in safe and effective ways. In the last 30 days alone, our chaplains increased their personal visits from 1,500 a month to 2,400!

For Hope Residence, these changes have seen encouraging results. Prior to the pandemic, Hope Residence chaplain Pastor Patrick Feldhus would lead a weekly “Worship at the Cross” service.

But when group activities were suddenly limited to no more than 10 residents, he had to find a more creative way. So he set up a computer on wheels to provide a separate worship service for each of Hope’s individual living areas. Doing so led to a 15 percent increase in attendance as well as higher group participation with smaller group sizes throughout the community.

“I noticed a number of residents who previously would not attend worship now attending and interacting with me,” said Pastor Feldhus. “This small change allowed me to create stronger relationships with our residents.”

Despite the circumstances, the Lord has continued to bless the creativity of Pastor Feldhus and the other TLHA chaplains throughout the ministry—none of which would be possible without your generous support. The residents of Hope and every other care community continue to hear the truth of God’s love thanks to you. What a gift that is, especially during this challenging time!
