TLHA December 20, 2017

Kingsway Retirement Living resident Mary Thomas painted the design that appeared on thousands Christmas cards sent out by The Lutheran Home Association (TLHA) throughout the nation and around the world this December.

Mark Hayes, TLHA Associate Vice President of Mission Advancement, presented Mary with a plaque to recognize her artwork on Dec. 20. Mary’s painting of an angel illustrates the great joy in this year’s contest theme: But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.” (Luke 2:10)

Mary grew up on a farm near Union Hill and attended high school in New Prague. After high school, she married Jerry Thomas and they raised five children together. Mary and Jerry moved to Kingsway Retirement Living in 2015. Prior to Jerry’s passing in May 2016, the couple enjoyed traveling together.

In addition to helping others and visiting with friends, Mary enjoys reading, watching movies and shopping. Mary loves to do artwork and decorates her home with many of her designs.

Holidays are the perfect time to visit family and friends in our care facilities. We invite to you stop in anytime to talk with our visits, whether you know someone there or not.
