Master of all: Ken Passow volunteers in countless ways
Ken Passow could be considered a jack of all trades volunteer for all the different tasks that he does at St. Michael’s Assisted Living. Each week, he plays cards with his father, Melvin, and other St. Michael’s residents.

He serves as a volunteer driver, driving residents to scheduled appointments such as to the doctor or dentist. For the past two years, Ken and his family have decorated the outdoor garden for the holidays.
While decorating is only done once a year, Ken typically visits St. Michael’s on Wednesdays to play a game of 500 with residents.
“They all appreciate playing cards and it helps to bring people together,” Ken said.
After celebrating Thanksgiving with Melvin, the Passow’s filled the garden space with garland and a collection of snowmen scenery.
“I just volunteered to help them out,” Ken explained, “We use a variety of snowmen that we have picked up here and there over the years.”
This year, the decorating group included Ken and his wife Faye, his sister Sherry and his brother Curtis and his partner Christy.
“Having our outdoor garden decorated is beautiful. It’s a great way to welcome home our residents and their families. We truly appreciate the time and talent the Passow family gives to St. Michael’s,” said Tiffany Olson, Administrator at St. Michael’s.
While volunteering, Ken enjoys spending his time with his father and being able to meet other residents and team members at St. Michael’s.
“I appreciate what St. Michael’s does for everybody. They all work together well and that’s what counts,” Ken said.
