St. Michael’s supports the community
With a strong history in the Fountain City community, St. Michael’s Assisted Living has been providing care for generations. But more than that, St. Michael’s strives to give back to the community.
During the recent Breakfast with Santa event, organizers asked attendees bring nonperishable food items to be donated to the Fountain City Food Shelf. Each year, St. Michael’s selected a different local organization to donate to.
During the Christmas season St. Michael’s team members support the Tree of Love project, coordinated by Buffalo County Health and Human Services. As a group, more than 60 gifts were purchased for the children of two local families.
“The families identified needs such as clothing, books and toys,” said Tiffany Olson, Administrator at St. Michael’s, “Within two days of putting up the tags, there are only a few left and they went quickly.”

Throughout out the year, St. Michael’s supports several other community projects: stuff the eggs for the community Easter egg hunt, host blood drives during the year and financially support the Cochrane-Fountain City School Backpack Program, which provides food and snacks for students to bring home for after school and weekends.
The majority of residents at St. Michael’s are from the local area and participating in local projects allows them to continue to support their hometowns.
