Yes, he is in control!
1 Corinthians 15:25 “For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.”
If you take a look back at what has happened in our world in the last few weeks you could very well question if God is indeed in control of everything in our world.
300 + people killed in a mosque in Egypt
26 people killed in a church in Texas
3 members of the U.S. Navy go missing after a plane crash
Hurricane Irma
We could list many more, but you get the idea. Non-Christians and even some Christians look at what is going on around them and they question if there is a God and if he is indeed awake and in control of what is going on.

If you look at our Bible verse for this week, it is a reminder that God’s reign as King over all things is an ongoing process “For he must reign until…”.
While Jesus has defeated all of our enemies – sin, death and the devil, it doesn’t mean that he has removed the sting and total effect of sin in our world. That will not happen until we reach heaven. Just because there are troubles and tragedies in this life that does not mean that God is not in control. If you look back through the pages of the Bible you will see how God used evil governments (Babylon & Rome) and evil people (Herod, Goliath, Pharaoh, Caesar Augustus) to accomplish his purpose in spite of their evil intentions.
As for you and me, we still live in a sinful world and until Jesus returns we won’t perfectly experience Jesus’ reign as King. That is hard for some people to accept or fathom. Just as he did in the Garden of Eden, the devil is constantly trying to get us to question and doubt God and his love for us.
Maybe you’ve heard this whole topic put this way: Sometimes God reveals his purpose to us right away, sometimes he makes us wait quite a while here in this life and sometimes will not clearly see what God was doing or what he had in mind until we view things from the perfect view of heaven.
Very likely you know someone in your family, whom you work with or whom you are caring for who is seriously questioning what is going on in our world and why. It is often hard for us to accept that we don’t have all the answers or aren’t necessarily in control of our situation.
While we can’t be in control of everything or don’t always know what is going on, what a blessing to know the one who is in control of everything, no matter what it seems is happening around us. As long as we are living in this world take confidence that Jesus is still working as our King and “he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet”!
