Rev. Dr. Bruce H. Becker joins TLHA Board of Directors

BELLE PLAINE, MINN. January 20, 2016 — Respected church consultant, public speaker, advisor and published author Rev. Dr. Bruce H. Becker is the newest member of The Lutheran Home Association (TLHA) Board of Directors. The non-profit health care and disability ministry welcomed Becker to the board at its annual meeting Jan. 15 in Belle Plaine, Minn. He joins 15 existing board members.

TLHA’s board meets regularly with the president and CEO and executive leadership to review the ongoing operation of the organization and to provide strategic direction for its ministry.

“I greatly respect TLHA for its Christian ministry to seniors and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and I’m honored to be joining the board,” Becker said. “I look forward to the opportunity to serve the ministry.”

Becker has a doctorate in leadership and ministry management from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Ill., and a master of divinity degree from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wis.

He currently serves as executive vice president for operations at Time of Grace Ministry in Milwaukee, Wis. This international Christian outreach media ministry is dedicated to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with as many people as possible using television, print and the Internet.

Becker’s past ministry experience includes serving as the lead pastor of two Lutheran churches and as a denominational leader responsible for providing ministry resources, training, and support to churches.

He also worked as executive editor for Lutheran Leader magazine and a contributing writer to a variety of Lutheran publications; taught at Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee, Wis.; and presented at leadership conferences, workshops and seminars.

Becker lives in Jackson, Wis., with his wife, Linda. They have been married for more than 30 years and have four adult children.

Board members who were re-elected to a three-year term at the annual meeting were Jeff Davis of Lake Mills, Wis.; Wayne Larson of Belle Plaine, Minn.; Rev. Matthew Rauh of St. Peter, Minn.; Mark Schwan of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and Arvid Schwartz of Green Isle, Minn.

Corporate officers elected were Schwartz as chairman of the board of directors; Lowell Hoffman of Belle Plaine, Minn., as vice chairman; Tim Schuth of Plato, Minn., as treasurer; and Rauh as secretary. The Lutheran Home Association’s President and CEO remains Michael Klatt of Belle Plaine, Minn.

In addition to elections, Klatt presented the organization’s annual report and the strategic plan to the board of directors during the meeting. Highlights from the plan included the joint development with Ridgeview Medical Center of a new campus within Belle Plaine providing clinic and senior care services to the Belle Plaine and surrounding areas, as well as continued development of other growth opportunities throughout the service area of The Lutheran Home Association.
